THE PARTNERS
A NOTE FROM
THE ARCHITECT
The well-preserved setting is surrounded by wild and natural vegetation reminiscent of the ‘African savannah’.
The living spaces open onto the front and back gardens, with some villas having side access too. This creates an excellent connection between home and nature and greatly contributes to natural ventilation. ‘Interior courtyards’ reinforce the concept of ‘bringing the outside, in.’ The architecture reflects a tropical lifestyle which makes the villa pleasant to live in.
THE ARCHITECTS
We are now a team of three architects collaborating with a couple of designers. Our philosophy is to stay small so that we can give individual and exemplary attention to each of our projects.
The architecture is plain and simple, incorporating a mixture of sloping roofs with metal sheets and flat slabs. The sloping roofs provide great interior space and they keep the houses cool, assisted by the designers’ focus on ensuring good, natural ventilation.
THE INTERIOR
DESIGNERS
Sophie and Jean-Michel Remazeilles create environments combining attractive spaces, a sense of tranquillity and carefully selecting attractive furniture, inviting guests to relax and bask in the resort’s serenity.
“Our interior design flows into and merges with nature…Space, height, natural wood, concrete, bay windows, long terraces, swimming pools: this truly is luxury in the wild. Eko Savannah merges into nature and seems as if it’s been there forever… ”
The variety and density of nearby plants give the resort an atmosphere of a hidden oasis in contrast with the dry and wild surrounding countryside. The trees and palms are resistant to drier climatic conditions. Elsewhere, in keeping with our focus of using plants that thrive in the local climate, large beds of semi-tall pampas-type grasses will be planted, as well as a variety of succulents. Shrubs endemic and native to tropical regions will be planted around the plots in order to guarantee privacy. Some cooler and more protected parts of the private gardens will make room for tropical plants. However, we pay special attention to avoid altering the atmosphere, which is at the root of the Eko Savannah development.
THE LANDSCAPER
LandConcept is a Mauritian company established in September 2005 by Daniel Maestracci, a Franco-Mauritian landscape architect. Specialising in outdoor landscaping, Daniel knows exactly how to optimise outdoor spaces and create a perfect blend between the outdoors and in. One of his key considerations when designing an outdoor space is ensuring the plants and trees are suitable for their environment and can thrive in the long term.
